Pathways to a master degree
You can graduate with a Master of Human Resource Management in approximately 2 years part-time, after completing 12 units (72 credit points total).
You can also exit the course after completing approximately:
- 0.7 years part-time, 4 units (24 credit points), and you’ll receive a Graduate Certificate of Human Resource Management; or
- 1.4 years part-time, 8 units (48 credit points total), and you’ll receive a Graduate Diploma of Human Resource Management*

Structure
The Master of Human Resource Management comprises twelve units across 4 parts (plus electives). Each unit is worth 6 credit points.
Part A. Contemporary application
These units provide coverage of theories, models and frameworks to apply to contemporary practice of human resource management. They are designed to introduce foundational knowledge of key human resource management activities.
Part B. Advanced application
The focus of these units is to deepen and extend understanding and practice of contemporary human resource management. They are designed to provide advanced knowledge of complex human resource management challenges and practical approaches to engage with them effectively.
Part C. Professional application
The focus of these units provide opportunities for students to apply knowledge to their professional practice. The units feature professional development, application of HRM knowledge in practice and opportunities for students to direct their learning to thrive and maintain currency in an uncertain business environment.
Part D. Industry project
You must complete one or both of the following units.

Elective units to be chosen from the units offered across the Monash online programs as long as you have the prerequisite and there are no restrictions on enrolling in the units.
Entry Requirements
There are two entry pathways into the Master of Human Resource Management.
Eligible entrance via Graduate Certificate
Commence your studies via the Graduate Certificate of Human Resource Management, a post-graduate qualification that can lead you to further studies in the Master of Human Resource Management.
Entry level 1 – 72 points to complete
Duration: 2 years part-time.
An Australian bachelor degree, or an equivalent qualification, with at least a credit (60%) average, or an equivalent Grade Point Average, plus two years relevant work experience*.
Entry level 2 – 48 points to complete
Duration: 1.4 years part-time.
A Monash University Graduate Certificate of Human Resource Management with at least a credit (60%) average.
*Applicants applying on the basis of work experience are required to provide a detailed curriculum vitae, outlining their employment history and professional experience.
English Requirements
Applicants must meet the English language requirements.

For the Master of Human Resource Management, the estimated cost is $4,375.00 per unit. You may be eligible to receive a FEE-HELP loan to cover part or all of your tuition. Fees are subject to change annually.

Dr Susan Mayson
Dr Mayson is Director of Education in the Department of Management. She is an associate Fellow in the Monash Education Academy, a Dean’s Teaching Award (2011) winner and she received a Dean’s Commendation for Teaching Excellence in 2009. She teaches at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
