The Professional Certificate of Human Behaviour and Applied Research provides an entry into the Graduate Diploma of Psychology Advanced for students who are not eligible for direct entry. You will gain an additional qualification before moving on to complete your Graduate Diploma of Psychology Advanced.
This course offers you a combination of knowledge in the science and practice of psychology. Provided through a comprehensive understanding of research design and methods, and the choice of a unit exploring ethics, evidence-based approaches to psychological assessment and intervention, psychology in industry and contemporary topics in the field. This in turn establishes a well-rounded foundation to kickstart your journey to a career in psychology or other field – whether as a registered psychologist, researcher or industry professional.

Pathways to an accredited psychology qualification
You can graduate with a Professional Certificate of Human Behaviour and Applied Research within 6 months part-time accelerated, after completing 2 units (12 credit points). Once the Graduate Diploma of Advanced has been completed, you will be eligible for provisional registration with AHPRA with potential opportunities for further study and work in the field of psychology.

If you find work placement for 12 months, and enrol in a Master of Psychology, then you can become an APAC registered provisional psychologist.
Research Psychology path

Entry Requirements
Minimum Entry Requirements:
An Australian undergraduate degree (or equivalent) with a major in psychology, accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) with a score between 60-69 average across second
and third year psychology units (including psychology electives).
OR
A graduate diploma in psychology, accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) with a score between 60-69 across all psychology graduate diploma units excluding any foundational units.
Applicants with international qualifications will need to have their qualifications assessed by the Australian Psychological Society (APS).
Fees
For the Professional Certificate of Human Behaviour and Applied Research, the estimated cost is $4,575.00 per unit. You may be eligible to receive a FEE-HELP loan to cover part or all of your tuition. Fees are subject to change annually.

Dr Michael Rowlands
Dr Rowlands is a forensic psychology researcher with over 10 years’ experience working with criminal populations. He specialises in assessing risk of sexual violence. Dr. Rowlands leads a team of researchers in the forensic domain, and coordinates/teaches in neuroscience and the application of psychology in the 21st century.

Dr Ashleigh Schweinsberg’s research focuses on psychological education, online learning and self-development. Ashleigh enjoys working in academia with a passion for furthering online education in psychological sciences.
